Of course these are normally the two most expensive components.

The best place to upgrade for this are your video card and processor. Upgrades to things like RAM are always good, but the main issue on issues like this are normally processing bottlenecks while crunching the complicated math for randomization and effects. There is a lot that goes into this, but basically brushes with a lot of randomization and effects will max out your processors. If you can use a standard brush fine with no problems, but a custom brush is taking forever - it's the brush. TL DR - The top solution would be to limit brushes that run slowly. To turn it back on I have to go into the Wacom utilites and turn off "Use Windows Ink" and then turn it back on. Oh and besides lag, my brush tilt falls off every time I switch between Ps and another window. I tried turning off smoothing but that didn't help. I should also mention I'm using a Kyle Webster brush and eraser. I'll erase and it will stop, give me the rotating circle, catch up on erasing and then switch to brush and scribble where it should have been erasing. Since upgrading my pc, my brush lag isn't as bad as it used to be but the eraser lag is driving me nuts. I have stayed at Ps version 19 because the brush lag in version 20 makes working impossible.
